New build of the 3D extension for gvSIG 1.9 available

A new build of the 3D extension for gvSIG has been released, and it’s available on [1]. This build works on gvSIG 1.9 stable (build 1253), that is available on [2].

In addition to the improvements shown in the 5th gvSIG Conference, this build (BN11) showcases a remarkable feature: its installation overrides the raster libraries which were causing problems in Windows Vista/Windows 7. Also, the full application is offered as a “dmg” for MacOSX, working on Leopard as well as SnowLeopard, allowing to load raster layers supported by gdal. Users must take into account that overriding this libraries could cause unstabilities.

Among the new features, we shall emphasize:
- New kernel version integrated (osgVP-2.2.0).
- Improved memory management .
- Added new symbology system.
- Various display modes, including stereo and fullscreen.

It is important to mention that MacOSX version only runs under Leopard and SnowLeopard, causing unexpected errors running in Tiger and surely not working on PPC machines.

These development versions are oriented to test and evaluate new functionalities of gvSIG, so it’s not recommended to use it in a production environment.

gvSIG 3D team encourages everyone to test this version. To keep improving the framework  comments and suggestions can be sent to the international list [3].
